by the various manufacturers, as they all operate in different ways
and stress various criteria with more importance than others usually
dependent on the fact that is their area of expertise and strength.
Due to vast amounts of research into sustainability we are able to advise and provide comparison reports on the environmental elements of
products you may be considering for a project.
We have devised the following checklist, to assist you in benchmarking the various manufacturers and their product options
• What is their environmental policy?
• What are their environmental goals?
• What is the recycled content of the product?
- Backing and top cloth?
• How long will the product last?
• Where is the product made?
- What is the impact on the environment of a product made overseas against a product made here?
• How is it made? (what energy is used?)
• Do they use local suppliers?
• How sustainable are their packaging options?
- Do they take back packaging e.g. Boxes for recycling?
• What can they organise for the end of the life of their product?
- Can it be recycled (if so into what), can it be re-used?
- Will they take it back?
• Have they won any relevant awards or accreditations(what do they do actually mean?)
• Do they put environmental controls onto their own supply chain i.e. 'Cradle to grave'
• What are the life cycle implications for the product?
